Onyinye Edeh, UWS Graduate Student

Onyinye Edeh is a first year MPH student in the Department of Global Health at the UW School of Public Health. She received her Bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia. A native of Enugu State, Nigeria, Edeh has lived in the United States for almost 10 years. She comes to the UW from Atlanta, Georgia- a place she has called home since her arrival in the States in 2002.

Edeh's public health experiences include work on a community-based participatory research project documenting the health, education, and labor assets for youth in the Atlanta Promise Neighborhood; work with the Georgia Department of Community Health, and work with Action Health Incorporated, a Nigerian NGO focused on Adolescent sexual and reproductive health. Her public health interests focus, particularly, around the lives of young people. She plans to become an international public health practitioner working with humanitarian organizations and NGOs. Edeh is interested in emergency response & disaster relief and plans to concentrate her work in community health in African countries, with hopes of someday directing her own humanitarian organization.
